With the support of scholarship donors, WAFC established and has funded the Food Industry Management Program at the USC Marshall School of Business since 1958. In 2000 WAFC, working with the Community College system launched a curriculum of 10 classes specifically designed for food industry associates

Minimum of five years of successful commodity purchasing experience in a commodity based food industry business. Experience in procuring sugar, grain based items, starch and salt is a plus. A history of interaction and coordination with operations, transportation, inventory management, sales and quality assurance departments is necessary. Senior Category Manager/Merchandiser - Service Bakery
Smart & Final - Commerce, CA
This position reports to the Vice President of Meat/Deli/Service Deli/Bakery. Manages specific food categories. Has responsibility for all facets of business within the assigned categories. Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, communication skills both oral and written, and strong analytical skills. 
Minimum requirements: 
• Bachelor's degree (B. A or B.S.) from a 4 year college or university; four years hands-on experience with a Full Service Bakery as well as Cake Decorating experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

• Strong negotiation skills and be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and possess a general ability to adapt to new software. 
• Must be able to develop, manipulate, format and share spreadsheets for purposes of analysis. 
• Knowledge of Access or a similar relational database is desirable.
